Tavria is proud to participate in the SLGA Charitable Gaming Program at Centennial Bingo in Regina. This partnership gives us access to valuable gaming proceeds—plus an additional 25% through the Lotteries Grant for Sport, Culture & Recreation (LGS). These funds help us keep lower costs for families by subsidizing instructor pay, festival registration and travel expenses, costume costs, and maintaining the dedicated studio space our dancers rely on. Volunteering at bingo might feel like a hassle or just another item on your to-do list—but those few hours make a big impact. Parents and dancers aged 14+ can work bingo. Your time helps keep Tavria thriving.

Supporting Our Dancers Through Community Fundraising
Bingos are an important part of our fundraising efforts, helping to keep dance programs affordable and accessible for all families. Participation in the bingo program supports our charitable mission and helps reduce the overall cost of dance programming.
What is the Bingo for Tuition Program?
To help maintain affordable tuition fees, each dancer’s registration includes a recommended number of bingo shifts. These bingos are run through our licensed charitable gaming program. Funds raised from these events support the operations and programming of the dance studio.
While participation is optional, families are strongly encouraged to become a part of these events. The more we participate, the more we can keep tuition costs & other expenses manageable for everyone.

How Participation Works:
- Families who choose to participate in bingos contribute to the overall success of our fundraising efforts.
- The funds raised are directed to the studio’s gaming account and are used to help subsidize overall programming costs, including tuition, our studio lease, instructor pay, festival registration fees and travel.
- Bingo is one of our most important fundraisers, helping keep program costs lower for all families. Choosing to participate means contributing directly to this shared effort. For those who opt out, a fee is applied to help offset the loss—but it’s important to know that this fee covers only a small portion of what would typically be raised through bingo shifts.
What if I Choose Not to Volunteer?
- Families who do not wish to volunteer at bingos can choose to pay a bingo opt-out fee instead.
- This fee helps cover the lost fundraising revenue and supports the continued operation of the studio.
- An invoice will be issued for the full bingo opt-out amount.
Partial Participation:
- Families who complete some, but not all, of their recommended bingos will be invoiced a partial opt-out fee based on the number of unworked shifts.
BINGO POSITION DESCRIPTIONS:
Counter and Paper Reconciliation: (18+ years)
Works on the counter to start and then stays behind the counter for the entire bingo. The one who stays counts paper to be returned, cashes out aprons as the night goes on and reconciles the paper sold at the counter, in the aprons and the apron floats. Arrives early but can leave early and not help with garbages.
Counter/Callback (14+ years, comfortable with counting and making change)
Selling paper at the counter to start. Once bingo starts, sit with the caller and play bingo to be the backup if the electronic boards go down. Mark down running total of bingos to make sure cash matches. Help with garbage at the end of the night.
Counter/Floor (14+ years, comfortable with counting and making change). Sell paper to customers. Must be comfortable with counting money. Go out on paper aprons around 7:00pm (see the job description below for this)
Floor (14+ years) – Sell paper on the floor to players. Catch bingos when called. RUN to get the winning card, announce them to the caller on the phone, then stand with your hand up until the runner comes with winnings. The runner is also another paper apron worker. Please take turns grabbing the winnings from the cash person. Help with garbage at the end of the night.
Horses (16+ years of age) – Sell seal tickets on the floor. Must have good mobility as it is usually quite busy. Can grab bingos as they are called, when not as busy. Help with garbage at the end of the night.
Nevada (16+ years of age) – Sit at the front door and sell Nevada seal tickets before bingo, during intermission and at the end. At intervals must walk around with tickets to sell to players sitting down. (please take ALL money in the apron when walking around). At the end of the night, count out a stack of 100 tickets and put an elastic band around them. Stay until the very end to sell to those who are leaving. Can have limited mobility, but is still expected to walk around now that we are done to only one Nevada worker at each bingo. We need to sell Nevada’s from the floor and this worker helps to get bingo’s.

All workers/coordinators need to park in the back parking lot

At the end of the evening program garbage bags need to be changed. NO combining dirty garbage bags. Each garbage bin requires a NEW garbage bag. This is done Sunday – Thursday bingos or weekends when there is no late night.

Do not have your cell phone out on the floor.

RUN if you are the nearest person to a bingo. The quicker we get the Bingos, the quicker we get to go home! Try and spread out so the whole place is covered and there is always someone close to whoever yells Bingo.

If you need to go to the bathroom or are on your break, leave your apron at the counter.

If you are at the counter, they really don’t want drinks or food back there.

Outside food/drink is not allowed (No visible Tim Horton’s cups!)
